The Los Angeles Lakers had one of their busiest summers. Following their loss in the 2022 Western Conference Finals, Rob Pelinka immediately pushed for some deals to surround LeBron James with a roster good enough to compete for the title. Gabe Vincent was among the several new acquisitions for the Purple & Gold.

Gabe Vincent agreed to a three-year, $33 million deal to join the California side. So far, the Lakers must be extremely satisfied with Vincent’s production. After the Lakers clinched yet another preseason game win, the 6ft 2” guard spoke highly about the franchise. Merely 121 days after he helped Jimmy Butler lead the Miami Heat to the NBA Finals, the 27-year-old spoke about being in sync with his new teammates.

Gabe Vincent speaks about the Los Angeles Lakers’ continuous growth

Gabe Vincent was slightly subpar in the first two preseason games. However, Vincent proved himself to all the doubters during the contest against the Sacramento Kings. Playing 26 minutes, the starting guard recorded 18 points on 58.3% shooting from the field.

Following LAL’s 109-101 win, Vincent discussed several topics with Mike Bresnahan of Spectrum SportsNet. Apart from talking about the game, Gabe also discussed the chemistry in the Lakers camp.

Vincent: “Me and my guys are just doing a good job moving the ball… we just had some good action.”

Bresnahan: “Training camp started exactly one week ago today, how comfortable are you feeling here with the Lakers?”

Vincent: “More and more each day. Get to know each other, getting to know how guys move, how guys play… We’re starting to grow.”

He also spoke about D’Angelo Russell’s impressive three-game stint. D’Lo, who recorded 21 points and 8 assists tonight, received huge praise from his backcourt pairing.

Vincent: “He’s been great. D’Lo makes the game easy… He pushes the pace, he gets guys inspired, makes the right read. He’s been playing really well at a high level.”

Clearly, Gabe Vincent has had a smooth transition and is managing to get accustomed to his new team.

Vincent spent 4 years with the Miami Heat

Gabe Vincent emerged as an impressive role player during the 2023 postseason. Having lodged 15.8 points on 48.5% shooting, several pundits believed that he deserved the Eastern Conference Finals MVP trophy over Jimmy Butler.

After spending four years and making two trips to the NBA Finals during his stint with the South Florida side, Vincent made sure to part ways with the franchise on a positive note. Merely a few days after signing his biggest extension ever, Gabe spoke highly about Jimmy Butler.

It’ll be interesting to see how Vincent can contribute as the Lakers are set to make a Championship push.
