Not everyone associated with the Dallas Cowboys is eager for owner Jerry Jones to extend star pass rusher Micah Parsons. Parsons has been vocal this offseason about a few issues he thinks are keeping the Cowboys from competing for Super Bowls.

Some Dallas Cowboys would be happy to see a star leave

Parsons will play in the fourth year of his rookie contract in the upcoming season. The Cowboys picked up Parsons’ fifth-year option in March. However, it isn’t guaranteed he’ll play in Dallas on it. As previously discussed on GH, Shan Shariff said on 105.3 The Fan that many in the Cowboys facility are growing tired of Parsons. Some would be happy if Parsons weren’t with the team:

“But all I do know is this – I’ve heard from way too many people that if Micah Parsons was out of there, there would be a decent amount of people inside the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco smiling or breathing a sigh of relief.”

Micah Parsons wanted more help for 2024

Parsons said he wanted the Cowboys to show they’re all-in by adding more talent to the roster to help the team compete in the playoffs. He wanted help on the interior defensive line and at linebacker. The most he received was Eric Kendricks to replace Leighton Vander Esch, who retired last month.

Parsons said the culture in Dallas needed to change for the team to improve. Those comments caused quarterback Dak Prescott to say he felt “attacked” if anyone thought there was a problem with the culture in the Cowboys locker room.

The Cowboys went 12-5 last season before failing in the Wild Card round of the playoffs. The roster has since regressed after Parsons begged for help. An NFL executive has argued that part of the reason is to help with Prescott’s looming contract extension.

Can Parsons and Prescott stay on the same team?

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott (4) scrambles against the Green Bay Packers during the first quarter of their wild card playoff game Sunday, January 14, 2024 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Green Bay defeated Dallas 48-32.

If the Cowboys don’t match their win total from a season ago, we could see a fascinating power battle between Prescott and Parsons in the locker room in the 2024 season.

Are the Cowboys planning to extend Parsons and Prescott?

Paying both won’t be easy. The Cowboys could consider trading Parsons for significant pieces and draft capital. There would be plenty of teams willing to pay a high price for the three-time All-Pro.
